One of the most important things to do before ordering your wedding dress, either standard or custom, is to know your body measurements. Getting accurate measurements will ensure that your dress fits properly and flatters your figure.
What you need:
Measuring tape (easily found one from your local store or amazon):
Measuring Tips:
- If you're ordering a custom size dress, take your measurements by carefully following the measurement instructions we email you after you've submitted your order or have them professionally taken by a tailor.
- Always have another person help you with your measurements, try not to measure by yourself.
- Don't measure over your clothing. Instead, wear your bridal undergarments (or something similar) and measure from there.
- Don't pull the measuring tape too tight or give it too much slack. Leave about 1 finger space so you can move comfortably.
How to Measure for Standard Size
This is a simple overview of how to take the measurements for a standard size dress. If you're ordering in custom size, please read over the instructions we send you.
Bust size: Measure around your chest at the fullest point - not under the bust.
Waist size: Measure around your natural waist. To find your waist, stand up straight and bend over to one side. The crease that forms is where you should measure from.
Hip size: Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
Hollow-to-hem length: Your length measurement is taken by measuring from the center of your collarbone to the hem of your dress. Because you'll need to stand up straight to get the most accurate measurement, have a friend or professional tailor help you with this one.
Be sure and wear shoes with a similar heel to your wedding shoes while taking the hollow-to-hem measurement, so as to get the correct length.

Keep in mind that to get the most flattering fit possible, it's recommended to select based on your largest measurement. For example, if your bust fits a size 8, your waist fits a size 6, and your hips fit a size 12, then you'll want to order a size 12 and have the rest tailored to fit properly.
