How to Measure Wedding Dress for Standard Size Order

The instructions here are for standard size dresses, custom size clients will be sent a detailed measuring form with instructions to fill out. 

Before you start taking the measurements, please do the following preparation:

 A. Standard straight with your heels together and arms down at your sides and your bra or bustier on. 

(Keep it on for all measurements)

B. To define the waistline correctly, tie a elastic tape around your natural waist and don't take it off until you finish the measuring.

You will use this line as reference for taking other measurements. 

 



Wedding dress size works differently to regular dress size, here's a great video that explains how wedding dress sizes work:


BUST

Pass the measuring tape around your back and up to the front,
at the level of the fullest part of your bust:

WAIST

Pass the measuring tape along the cord you just tied to your waist. 

Don't make it too tight, you should be able to fit a finger between the tape and your waist. 

Remember to keep the tape leveled in a straight line across the back and the front of your waist. 

Don't breath in and pull in your stomach.

HIP

Pass the measuring tape around the widest part of your hips and the fullest part of your bottom. 
Don't make it too tight, you should be able to fit a finger between the tape and your hip.

HOLLOW TO HEM

Please take this measurement with your shoes on. 

Stand upright and keep your feet together,

and hold the measuring tape at your hollow and pull it down to where you want your skirt to end

(for tea and knee length dresses, this will be above the floor).

Arm Eye

Pass the measuring tape around your armpit and measure the circumference of your sleeve hole. 
Keep the tape in straight vertical line around your armpit.
Don't make it too tight, you should be able to fit one finger between the tape and your body.

Double Checking Your Measurements

If you're unsure of your measurements,
it's often a good idea to double check your measurements against a dress you already have. 

BUST

Measure straight across,  about 2.5 cm (1 in.) below the bottom of the sleeve opening.

Measuring Bust for a Dress

WAIST

Measure straight across the narrowest part of the dress.

If the dress doesn't have a defined waist,

measure across 40 cm (16 in.) below the shoulder.Measuring Waist for a Dress

HIP

Measure straight across the front of the dress at the widest point below the waist,
usually 18 cm (7 in.) below the waist.Measuring Hip for a Dress
